Repetition and difference theory

Repetition and difference theory

                            Music Videos

What is repetition and difference theory?
"This is a repeat of what people see in a music video"
e.g. the Carly Jepsen video call me maybe, the repetition is a girl falls in love with a boy which reoccurs in most music videos audience watch which influence young people. how ever there is a secret with this video as the guy is not interested in the girl as he is interested in the opposite sex which in the the video is the band member.

I have an example of what I am talking about.
This is seen in unfaithful By Rihanna,
In this music video this artist talks about being unfaithful and how she feels, the music video shows how in love they are in the beginning as there are scene of them going out place together, holding hands and having close body positioning within the scene, there is a scene of the couple gazing into each other eyes signifying how in love they are with each other like its only them against the world. On the other side of the story we find out the man is not being faithful as he is cheating on the girl we see these sign as he checks his phone for a message and he is very secretive with the relationship he is in, this is classed as repetition and difference theory because these sorts of event usually happen in music videos. It is always shown that the man is cheating the use of repetition and difference theory as become a habit with music videos because we already know what is going to happen, the fact that the man is the cheater t

I have another example of this type of theory
This music video is called  If I was a boy By Beyonce

The narrative (story line) of this type of music video is the same as existing music video however there is a different twist in order to surprise the audience so they get a taste of excitement this type of music video is a narrative video, you will need to watch this video to under stand the lyrics.  This is a love story between a couple. Within the music
