Final Digipak and Magazine Poster

Ride for me 

Here are the final products a Digipak and a poster to complete the whole production, throughout you can seen that there is a red theme going through it, this implies the theme of love, it also signifies what the song is about, as the RnB song talks about love and having to be there for someone who they are deeply in love with someone.

blog reflection- week 10

Using Photoshop 

This week my group and I started our magazine poster for the advertising of the music video Ride for me, we had to use Photoshop for this in order to edit the picture and use the effects on this piece of software.

We had a professional come in and show us what to do at first before we got started as this point I was a bit wary of using this software because I have only used it once in another lesson but that didn't go well, just having to go through the process of trail and error in order to figure out how to use it, which I struggles with at first.

The professional showed us how to upload a picture to the blank canvas which was quite easy to pick up just remembering the steps was an issues. Furthermore she showed the class how to put different effects on the picture by making sure that we have selected the image or objects we would like to select by using the cursor tool and click and dragging it to the place we wanted it to go. Quite frankly I found that hard to do as I got to start the poster because using the mac mouses was an issue have to drag it as when I let my finger off the mouse the transition will not work.

The main skill I picked up this week is having patience with this type of software because when editing this poster my group and I decided to put a picture of the artist that we decided to have, in this case we would have to move the picture to the position that we wanted it, because this was my second time using this piece of software I had to make sure that I take things a little more slower instead of things that every things will work out first time, its about trail and error.

The second skill I learnt is how to trim a picture so that the picture was the right side for it to fit on the page of the magazine cover, We had to make sure what colours would work well with what, but we had some help from the other draft of our poster that we planned before we got started making the real thing. This week I had to make sure that i have the main properties on the poster such as the image of the artist the name of them and what the song is called. The writing i decided to do was golden so that the writing will be eye catching typically you don't really see that on a poster, I wanted to do something different and be unique with the colour of the writing. the background I decided to do was black which could be seen as a boring or dull colour but typically poster I see for example ones on buses and as bus stand are black.

Equipment list

Equipment list 

I have devised an equipment list in order to make sure that we don't forget anything when we want to actual film our music video, we decided that we don't need a lot of equipment in order to carry out making our music video. We need an equipment list to help us be organised with everything, To show that we are equip and we don't forget anything.

Camera 

We will need to make sure that we have a camera in order to film the actual music video, we will need to make sure that we film the appropriate shot in order to portray our protagonist character, such such as close up for our RnB music video could be used for the second protagonist male character to shot her small petite figure typically show in music video. the camera is one of the most important pieces of equipment that we need to have responsibility of and making sure that we take care of it properly, in addition having to make sure that we upload our footage to a second medium just in case we replace the camera as other people may have used it and might have deleted the footage from the camera.

Tripod 

The second piece of equipment that would help us make this all possible is a tripod the responsibility of a tripod is to make sure that when we are filming the specific shots that we want to use, for example an medium close up of a person walking past we need to make sure that the camera is steady making sure that their is unwanted space as a shot could be critical for a music video. To add to this a tripod is important to as it improves the quality of an image, and makes the shots look more professional.

Apple Mac Computer 

The third piece of equipment is an Apple Mac Computer this is going to be used in order to use the software of final cut pro, this piece of software is vital for our production because we need to use this to crop, trim and add transition in our music video, moreover it will be used to make sure that we drag the right clips in the right place for our narrative music video to make sense. We need make sure we need add lip sync in the right place for it to make sense to the order of no this will be unprofessional and look tacky.

Digipak draft

What is a Digipak? 

This is a CD or DVD packaging which is typically made of card/ paper and the inner packaging made out of plastic. They are normally used on social editions and albums. These are designed to fold into a square CD case, They can fold many different ways and have different amount of panels. 

On a typical Digipak

• The and black panels are the main 'promotes' of the CD and are very much used to draw in the customers. 
• The inside of the Digipak is used more for information and extra bits to do with the artist/song/album. 
• The theme of the inside packaging normally is more subtle compared to the outside packaging.  
• The plastic case which secures the disc in place.

For my digipak I have designed a plan for how I would like my final digipak to look like, I have done some research into this so that I got an idea on what I am doing, within my research I found out that all digipaks include the following information

1. Visual image/ key to the production 
2. Band/ artist name - allow audience to identify 
3. Album title/ whats on the DVD
4. basic background information of the band/artist 

This is essential in order to promote the artist the reason for this is because it is more effective to make digipaks in order to sell to the artist fans. 

DIGIPAK
First draft 

On this digipak I would have to stick to the main components that is suppose to be on a digipak in order to sell to my target audience between  14-21, we target our age group at, I decided to have the colours red black and gold for the digipak . We specifically stuck to using the colour red for our digipak   this is because our music video is about love and relationship people could relate to how our protagonist character feels in the music video,   the colour red shows passion for the couple.  I decided to  make the writing black this is because typically black is a very dominating colour that everyone can see it not hard for people to see on the white back ground that we decided to have throughout the theme of our digipak. 

In addition I have also decided to use gold as I said this will connote the theme of money  and will also have synergy with the music video as we have our artist wearing a cold watch. 

We decided to make sure that we have a picture of our artist on the  front cover of our digipak to show the audience that he is the main person we are advertising, in the middle of the digipak at the bottom we decided to have include gold question makes this is because we wanted to included the punctuation on the digipak because the arist asks a lot of rhetorical questions.   

Part 1 -Brief

The brief 

I am hired by PL Records to manage the promotion of one of the new acts. I was contacted to create a music video, 6 to 8 gate cover for the artists digipak and a A4 magazine advertisement promoting the digipak. The artist that I have chosen is Paigey Cakey which is a young female artist, To find this artist I initially research unsigned artist and clicked on websites but that didn't really help in order t find the artist hat I wanted to produce a music video for. I decided to to ask people that people that I know and researched about the female artist. The genre of the music video that I would produce is RnB. 

The social networking site that I used for in order to request permission for the song 'Same Way' was the use of Facebook, I write a formal message to the artist. 
what attracted me to the artist was that the female was young just like me suggesting that we have something in common and I could relate to her. The song that she has written talks about earning respect because could interpret it in different ways for example young male youths could earn respect from other people that they might in in rival with. In addition she relates to young people as she talks slang in order for young people to understand her.
